Who are you?
Fair question. You can read all about who we are, what we do and why we do it on the About page.
Why should I trust you?
In addition to my teaching, learning and performing experience as an Middle Eastern musician, I have written numerous posts and created free video lessons, which can be found on the Oud Tip & Advice page. Go read through them, and you can see the research and studying I have done not only to polish my knowledge and techniques but also to help other Oud players work on theirs.
Why should I pick Oud for Guitarists over other training products?
We totally understand your doubts. Let us assure you that we created the learning material based on years of teaching and learning experience of the Oud from a guitarist’s perspective. We understand learning the Middle Eastern music is challenging for those who grew up listening to Western music. So you will see that we explain Middle Eastern music and make connection to Western music as much as possible. At the same time, you will hear authentic melodies, not those that “sound like” Arabic. We also try to keep theory and theoretical terms to a minimum for those of us who are not as strong in music theory. If you don’t like it, take advantage of our 60-day money back guarantee. What matters to us is that you give it a try. Imagine in a few months you could be playing authentic tunes and creating your own melodies inspired by them.
Do I have to be a guitar player to benefit from this program?
Not necessarily. We welcome everyone who is interested in learning the Oud! We named our program “Oud for Guitarists” because we came across many guitarists who are interested in learning the Oud, and this is natural because the Oud is the ancient ancestor of guitars! We created this program with people who have played or learned basics of stringed instruments in mind, so if you have taken a couple of lessons of the guitar, ukulele, bass, mandolin, or any stringed instrument, you will find this programs easy to follow. The accompanied manuals have a glossary and resources that you can refer to in case some terms sound unfamiliar to you. We do, however, recommend that you have very basic musical understanding and know concepts such as scales (C D E F G A B), beats (1, 2, 3, 4…) etc.
What is your return policy?
We offer a 60-day return policy. We are confident that our program will get you to start playing the Oud, but if you don’t learn anything that improves your Oud playing after watching the videos, simply email to support@oudforguitarists.com and tell us why you were not satisfied, and we will refund 100% of the full amount that you paid as quickly as possible. Plus, you can keep the program as our gift to you. In any case, please email support@oudforguitarists.com.
