It’s no dance party, that’s for sure. But if you take a really good look at the music, and the history, you’ll find that Persian music has dance written all over it.
That’s what I’m going to demonstrate this week…

I’ll perform a little bit of traditional Persian dance music on the Oud.
Dance Musical Form
In Persian music, one of the main dance tunes is called, “Reng”. These pieces are always in 6/8, and they are quite dancible. I’ll perform an excerpt from Hossein Alizadeh’s Reng-e Nava.

low to high strings it is CFADgc. It is Arabic tuning.
